Actress Mia Wasikowska, who plays the lead character in the film Jane Eyer said the filming left her in pain. The film is based on the novel “Jane Eyre. An Autobiography” written by Charlotte Brontë and published in the 1800′s.

Mia Wasikowska plays Jane Eyre in the film. She said that she hated wearing the corsets that were so popular in that time period. “Corsets are agony. I hate them,” says Mia.

“I’ve never been happier to be born in the time that I am in than when we first hopped into those corsets. They are as bad as everybody says — and worse…I would count down the days until I had a scene in my pajamas.”

Directed by Sin Nombre‘s Cary Fukunaga, the movie stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) as Jane’s employer, Mr. Rochester. Fukunaga says the film will have a “darker” adaptation of the bleak novel.

Michael Fassbender told The Onion, “I like that the characters are ugly and they’re beautiful and they’re cruel and they’re nurturing. There’s so much complexity to the characters, they’re so well-written, and I find that interesting. There’s ambiguity within the characters, and that’s what really attracted me to it, to the performance.”

Jane Eyre was released on March 11th. I love the book and can’t wait to see the movie…do you plan to see it? If you’ve seen it, what did you think about it?
