Michael Fassbender's Holby City flop

03 June 2011

Currently 4/5 Stars.

'X-Men: First Class' star Michael Fassbender once flopped as an extra in BBC One medical drama 'Holby City' by falling asleep on set.

Michael Fassbender fell asleep on set when he was an extra in 'Holby City'.

The 'X-Men: First Class' actor appeared as a guest star in the BBC One medical drama in 2002, but he disappointed the director by falling asleep in the middle of filming a scene.

He told ShortList magazine: "They were taking my spleen out and I fell asleep. I was lying on that bed for six hours.

I thought that was awful. The conveyor belt-ness of it was pretty soul destroying as it was, without hearing that from the director.

"I remember waking up mid-way through the take and the director saying to the cameraman, 'Oh, we'll have to get better guest actors in the next episode.'

"I thought that was awful. The conveyor belt-ness of it was pretty soul destroying as it was, without hearing that from the director."

However, by the time the 34-year-old hunk came to star in 'X-Men: First Class', he had developed a more "professional" attitude to his acting career, and was concerned co-star January Jones felt "uncomfortable" in the skimpy costumes she was required to wear in their scenes.

Michael recently said: "We were trying not to make an uncomfortable scenario for her - she was standing there in skimpy clothes and obviously there's a whole plethora of fans out there who get all excited about the prospect of that, so we were working with her as a professional."

Jason Flemyng cooks for X-Men cast

Friday, 3 June 2011
Jason Flemyng put his culinary skills to good use while filming X-Men

Jason Flemyng spent hours in the kitchen cooking up a feast for his X-Men: First Class castmates, Michael Fassbender has revealed.

Michael, who plays Magneto in the Matthew Vaughn film, told Shortlist that although he likes cooking, it was Jason - who plays villain Azazel - who really stood a chance of winning Celebrity MasterChef.

He said: "He's a great chef. He cooked this fantastic pork belly. He slow roasted it for 12 hours. He put it on at like four in the morning for us to eat at four in the afternoon. It was excellent."

The actor went on: "I was supposed to reciprocate but never did."

Michael also revealed that he once had a bit part in Holby City - but described the experience as "awful".

He said: "They were taking my spleen out and I fell asleep. I was lying on that bed for six hours. I remember waking up mid-way through the take and the director saying to the cameraman 'Oh, we'll have better guest actors in the next episode.' I thought that was awful. The conveyer belt-ness of it was pretty soul-destroying as it was, without hearing that from the director."
