Michael Fassbender: I liked to muck about on set of Jane Eyre
Michael Fassbender has revealed he joked around with Jane Eyre co-star Mia Wasikowska on set to create a relaxed atmosphere before filming a scene.

Fassbender said he took his unique approach to filming so he wasn't 'bogged down' with the seriousness of a scene.

The Irish actor said: 'At the time there are certain etiquettes that you have to incorporate and respect but you don't want to get bogged down by them and I like to go into a scene relaxed and lose, and if you've got a partner who's comfortable and confident to allow that then you can discover things'.

'You want to keep yourself as aware as possible and as open as possible and see what happens together. And if you have a good spark going into the scene, then you carry that energy into the scene.'

The X-Men: First Class star added how he found playing the role of brooding, handsome Mr Rochester 'complicated'.

'It's a challenge even without the fact that it's been done so many times and by so many great performers, just that you do justice to the character,' said the 34-year-old.

'He's so dense and so complicated, and he's carrying so much past along with him, you want to convey that physically as best as possible, as well as his state of mind in terms of his mood swings.'

Michael has been enjoying the bright lights of Venice recently, where he promoted psycho-sexual drama A Dangerous Method alongside Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen.
