Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender made a surprise appearance on the set of Ricky Gervais comedy Life’s Too Short, it has emerged.

Fassbender turned up on the set as a guest of Val Kilmer, who was filming scenes for the show.

The sitcom, which stars Warwick Davis in the lead role, is written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

According to a source, Kilmer emailed producers asking if he could bring someone onto set and was granted permission to do so, but cast and crew members were surprised when the guest turned out to be Fsssbender.

‘Fassbender and Kilmer were just hanging out with everyone on set and really enjoying themselves,’ the insider told Digital Spy.

‘It was amazing to see these Hollywood stars on the same set as the show’s British TV stars like Les Dennis, Keith Chegwin and Shaun Williamson.’

But the show’s star Warwick has admitted that he didn’t recognise Fassbender when he was 0n the set.

‘I didn’t know it was him,’ Warwick recalled. He was just introduced to me as Michael and I just said, “Alright Michael”. He probably just thinks I’m really cool now.’

Life’s Too Short is currently being filmed with the aim of being shown later this year on BBC2.
