Some fun things that really don't have anything to do with the film, but maybe worth the read. Or not.

Holiday Appetizers: Kevin Bacon Wrapped Dates an evil X-men villain recipe?

Kevin Bacon wrapped organic dates are so good evil X-Men villains serve them to weaken superheroes at hot Hollywood parties —

Heading to a party this Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday and not sure what to bring? If you are not a vegetarian and don’t mind handling meat during preparation of a party dish, then playing the evil super villain celebrity chef role may be a great Hollywood theme party decision. These Kevin Bacon wrapped organic dates might be just the right tasty treat to bring as a hot appetizer dish to a Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas Party — but be warned. They ARE evil. While these little delights might not look very pretty and party goers might be skeptical to try the first bite, once they do they will be hooked. Super hero dieting powers are defeated simply by them smell of these little kryptonite-esque babies. [Nov. 15]

Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with almonds are the holiday appetizer version of Pringles (or is it LAYS) at a Hollywood party and very chic right now to serve in LA as a non – vegetarian party dish … once you pop one bite you just can’t stop!

For that reason, you want to prepare enough to have a second serving backup already wrapped to go around… and people who try to be heroes with their diet by not eating meat, avoiding high fat or high calories, and who try to keep their weight down will surely tell you are rotten for feeding them these hot appetizers that are so delicious you can’t turn a second helping (or even thirds) down.

Play around with this recipe idea at home by preparing a practice batch or two to snack on while you cozy up for DVD movie and watch all the films in the X-Men series. Roll them in pepper for a spicy version, add a dollop of blue cheese…

Because you’ve got time! Green celebrity actor Kevin Bacon (founder of charity networking organization is busy wrapping up filming in the new X-men movie — and he’ll be playing a super villain role. Scroll down below the recipe to read more about his latest action adventure movie… and by the time you get this recipe perfected you’ll be all caught up watching re-runs of the films so the storyline and plot nuances won’t be missed by any movie goers who join you when you see the sure to be blockbuster film when it hits the big screen and IMAX movie theaters in your home town.

1 (8 ounce) package organic pitted dates

4 ounces organic almonds [we buy ours at WHOLE FOODS or WEGMANS in bulk]

1 pound sliced bacon [the real thing seems to taste best... but if you have a vegetarian solution, please feel free to leave it in the comments section

Preheat the broiler.

Slit open organic dates (long ways "hot dog not hamburger" works best); make sure pit is fully removed (just in case)

Place single (whole shelled) almond inside each date, pushing the date sides back around as if the almond wad now the pit.

Wrap dates with the bacon, using wooden toothpicks to hold them together. [1/2 a piece of bacon usually does the trick]

Broil 10 minutes, or until bacon turns evenly brown and the edges crisp.

Actor Kevin Bacon, husband of television star Kyra Sedgwick and long time movie actor from such films as Animal House, Footloose, and The Air Up There, is currently filming his new role the latest installment of the X-Menmovie series. MTV news reveals [Oct. 26]:

Currently shooting in England, director Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class” stars James McAvoy [from Wanted] as Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto as young allies in the time before they became bitter old rivals. Lawrence co-stars alongside Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean “Banshee” Cassidy, Oliver Platt as the Man in Black and Kevin Bacon as the film’s antagonist.

Rumors were shot down as recently as Nov. 15 that Hugh Jackman will make a cameo appearance as Wolverine — and the directors are keeping secrets about Kevin Bacon’s evil nemesis role quiet (including being vague about the character he will play as well as the plot and storyline secrets that involve him).

The next segment in the X-Men film series is scheduled for release in 2011, and sources say the movie is being filmed this month back in the United States — in Georgia, actually — in a place far removed from the Hollywood scene. VSuspectator added these details to the celebrity news archives Nov. 3:

Some scenes from “X-Men: First Class” have already been filmed in various locations around London, England, and now Twentieth Century Fox has scouted the area of Jekyll Island, and gained permission from authorities there tofilm . The studio will have to pay the island’s County Commission $16,000 for the use of the site, as well as provide beach-quality sand at one of the filming locations. Thefilm , another origins story explores the relationship between Professor X and Magneto. They are portrayed as mortal enemies in most X-Men stories, but were actually close friends when they were young men discovering their powers, which thefilm will chronicle.
