OK, here is my 010 preview for the first six months of the year. I will follow up in the next week or so with te second half and probably repost individual months as we go along. Anyways, on with the show!

Fish Tank-This indie picture has been getting a ton of festival raves throughout the 09 circuit and I can’t wait to see if this one pans out or not. It also stars Michael Fassbender who is primed to be the next big thing.

January Movie Releases
Okay, I'm going to see if I can do this for months other than "Oscar buzz" season. Here are the January releases. This is the season when many studios "take out the trash," as it were. There's not too much quality, perhaps because most of the big award-grabbing November/December releases are still trickling out to the rest of the country and people are seeing them instead. Or Avatar for the hundredth time. Smile Some of these have piqued my interest, though.

Fish Tank - (only in NY, but I think it's already open in the UK) A festival darling this past year, though I can't help seeing the trailer and seeing "Chavtastic: The Movie." However, people who've seen it do seem to love it. AND it has my other British boyfriend Michael Fassbender (Hicox, from Inglourious Basterds). I'd like to try and see this.

Fish Tank

Director: Andrea Arnold

Writer: Andrea Arnold

Starring: Michael Fassbender, Katie Jarvis, Kierston Wareing

Australian Release Date: 25/03/10

Mia (Katie Jarvis) is a troubled 15-year-old, excluded from school, her life is set to change when her mum (Kierston Wareing) brings her new man (Michael Fassbender, Hunger, Inglourious Basterds) home. Academy Award winner Andrea Arnold (Best Short Film 2005) is definitely a director to watch. Her jaw-dropping debut feature Red Road won the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2006. Fish Tank also won the Jury Prize at Cannes 2009- co-incidence, I don’t think so. I can’t wait to see this film which promises to be both confronting and thoughtful.
