New Release: Jane Eyre Blu-ray and DVD

Universal Studios Home Video will release Jane Eyre, the latest film version of Charlotte Bronte’s classic 1847 novel, on Blu-ray and DVD Aug. 16 for the list prices of $39.99 and $29.99, respectively.

The Blu-ray and DVD of the romance-drama are available for pre-order on Amazon for the discounted prices of $35.99 and $20.99.

Mia Wasikowska goes Bronte in Jane Eyre.

Mia Wasikowska (The Kids Are All Right) stars as the titular heroine in this PG-13-rated cinematic take on Jane Eyre. Adapted this time around by Moira Buffini and directed by Cary Fukunaga, the movie is populated by a cast of familiar faces, including Michael Fassbender (Centurion), Jamie Bell (The Eagle), Judi Dench (Nine), Sally Hawkins (Made in Dagenham) and Imogen Poots (Solitary Man).

Ms. Wasikowska is the latest actress to take on the role of the renowned Bronte character. Other thesps who’ve previously breathed life into Jane Eyre on the big screen include Virginia Bruce in 1934, Joan Fontaine (1944), Susannah York (1970), Charlotte Gainsbourg (1996) and Samantha Morton (1997).

The DVD and Blu-ray will contain the following bonus features (while the Bu-ray edition is slated to offer Universal’s usual BD-exclusive functions):

• A Look Inside Jane Eyre
• To Score Jane Eyre: Director Cary Fukunaga and Composer Dario Marianelli Team Up
• The Mysterious Light of Jane Eyre
• Director’s Commentary with Director Cary Fukunaga
•Deleted scenes

The 2011 adaptation of the Charlotte Brontë literary classic will sweep Blu-ray off its feet in August.

In an early announcement to retailers, Universal Studios is working on 'Jane Eyre' for a Blu-ray release on August 16.

The film stars Mia Wasikowska (Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland') and Michael Fassbender ('X-Men: First Class') and is directed by Cary Fukunaga.

The Blu-ray will have 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements include: Commentary with director Cary Fukunaga, A Look Inside Jane Eyre, To Score Jane Eyre: Cary Fukunaga and Dario Marianelli Team Up, The Mysterious Light of Jane Eyre, My Scenes, and pocket Blu.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $35.99.

Universal has officially announced plans to bring the 2011 film “Jane Eyre” starring Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Bell and Judi Dench to Blu-ray Disc on August 16th. Tech specs for the release include full 1080p Hi-Def video and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The title is already available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with a $35.99 price tag. The bonus materials set to be included on the release are listed below.
