A Mostly Harmless Poster for A Dangerous Method
August 8, 2011 By Jon Lyus
Making the most of its combined star power this international poster for David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method appears to be suffering from an unhealthy case of badly placed actor face syndrome, or King’s Speech disease.
Looking a lot like Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortensen are popping their heads around from behind the DVD cover of The Duchess there at least cannot be any mistaking how this one is being sold. Shame that Vincent Cassell didn’t get a look in.
The film, adapted from Christopher Hampton’s play, is playing at Venice next month and has a synopsis which looks something like this,
For his third consecutive collaboration with Viggo Mortensen, David Cronenberg adapts Christopher Hampton’s 2002 stage play concerning the turbulent relationship between Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) and his mentor Sigmund Freud (Mortensen) as they struggle to treat a troubled patient (Kiera Knightley).
Here’s your facey poster,
Big thanks and hurrah to IMPA.

Poster For A Dangerous Method Is Bland But Good Looking
Written by: Emily Estep
poster slice Poster For A Dangerous Method Is Bland But Good Looking
Clearly, this isn’t the greatest poster ever made. The one sheet for David Cronenberg‘s A Dangerous Method is just the busts of the three lead actors, on a grey background, with the film’s title underneath, but that’s okay. The lead actors, Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley, and Michael Fassbender, are so attractive that the poster is pretty appealing anyway.
Plus, who really needs more incentive to see this film? David Cronenberg – the man who made The Fly – is directing, the already mentioned, handsome cast is quite a talented ensemble, and the subject matter is titillating. Fassbender plays psychologist Carl Jung, whose controversial relationship with one of his patients, Sabina Spielrein (Knightley), causes a speed-bump in his bromance with Sigmund Freud (Mortensen), leading to breakthroughs in pyschoanalysis.
If I learned anything in Psych 101, it’s that Freud was one crazy dude who had some really farfetched ideas. Assuming Jung is on the same page, this film should be pretty saucy. Michael Fassbender has been building up a solid resume, and maybe leading such a risque film could be his first opportunity for serious awards recognition.
This poster may be awful, but it’s still enough to remind me about my excitement for A Dangerous Method. Check it out below, courtesy of The Playlist. Who else is ready to see this Oscar-fest?

Latest One-Sheet For Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method
August 23, 2011 By Martyn Conterio
Have a look at this rather stylish French one-sheet for David Cronenberg’s new flick A Dangerous Method. It stars Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender and Viggo Mortensen who will all being getting their pretend f&#! on for the cameras (it’s for artistic reasons).
So what is the dangerous method of the title? Having a fling with your patient would be it. A big no-no in the profession but bound to happen if your patient is a hot piece of troubled ace like Keira Knightley’s character Sabina. Viggo Mortensen replaced Christoph Waltz early on in the production and the film’s producer, Jeremy Thomas, told Deadline last year there would be, “lots of spirited sex.” Cronenberg has worked with Thomas before on auto(mobile)-erotica drama Crash and further back with Naked Lunch.
Despite melodramatic trappings, A Dangerous Method will be quintessential Cronenberg no doubt. The original London play featured Ralph Fiennes and Jodhi May, but neither will be returning to the material for a cinema outing.
We’ll expect this one to have a problem with the MPAA in the States, too. They aren’t too keen on ‘thrusting’ but seem okay with mental levels of physical violence. Crazy. The movie will be premiering at Venice, screening at Toronto and hopefully London Film Festival in October.
Watch the trailer here: A Dangerous Method Trailer
Seduced by the challenge of an impossible case, the driven Dr. Jung (Michael Fassbender) takes the unbalanced yet beautiful Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley) as his patient in A DANGEROUS METHOD. Jung’s weapon is the method of his master, the renowned Sigmund Freud. Both men fall under Sabina’s spell.

Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen overlap in a new poster for A Dangerous Method
Posted by: Brad Sturdivant
For those of you that don’t care much about movie posters, know that for just about any movie poster ever printed, the international version of the poster is almost always better than the US version. I’ve asked various PR firms why this is the case and even a movie poster designer and no one can tell me why. I say that, only to present to you the international French poster for David Cronenberg’s A DANGEROUS METHOD, which centers on the relationship between Sigmund Freud, Freud’s pupil Carl Jung, Jung’s patient/lover Sabina Spielrein and the eventual rift that occurred between Freud and Jung when Jung’s relationship with Sabina turned sexual.
The film has an amazing cast, headlined by Michael Fassbender (Jung), Keira Knightley (Spielrein) and Viggo Mortensen (Freud). You can watch the A DANGEROUS METHOD trailer, which shows that this film is going to be a tour de force of great acting. The film hits theaters on November 23rd.

French poster for Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method
Classy one-sheet is hard on the eyes
By Fareed Athman | Aug 24th 2011
A French poster for A Dangerous Method has appeared online.
The David Cronenberg-directed outing stars Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, the founding fathers of psychoanalysis.
Keira Knightley also features as Sabina Spielrein, the Russian-Jewish patient who came between them, leading to the birth of their famous method.
The poster has all three stars looking awfully upper-class, dissolving into one-another to create an optical illusion that could end up giving you a spot of brain ache.
The way their heads are conjoined is almost like a sideways Human Centipede, except less, you know, disgusting.
See the poster here:
A Dangerous Method opens in UK cinemas on 10 February 2012.

Will The Fass and Viggy make a good Jung and Freud? Or does that partnership sound more like the name of a high-end solicitor's than the makings of a good movie? Let us know!

New A DANGEROUS METHOD French Poster Will Give You A Headache!
August 24, 2011 12:08 pm
Matt Holmes
It’s a big month for A Dangerous Method, the long awaited next movie from David Cronenberg as a Venice film festival premiere is booked for the next few weeks, then the hopeful Awards season drama hits the Toronto and New York Film Festivals soon after, before Sony Pictures Classic begin a limited U.S. release on November 23rd.
Clearly Sony Pictures believe they have a strong runner in the Oscar race on their hands and are giving it the kind of showcase that naturally brings with it huge expectations.
An adaptation of Christopher Hampton’s 2002 dialogue heavy play “A Talking Cure”, Cronenberg’s three character period drama focuses close friends Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) and Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), the founding fathers of psychoanalysis and the Russian-Jewish beauty Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), a patient who came between them.
Foreign distributor for the movie Mars Films offer us a new French poster for the film which is very, very odd and kind of gives you a headache if you look at it too long;
Surprisingly for a movie that has so much bed-hopping and is just as much a study about sex than anything else… they have gone with a very tame poster!
Still we are looking forward to this one as a highlight of the Venice Film Festival and with A History of Violence and Easter Promises, Cronenberg sure is on a roll lately…

A Far Better Poster for A Dangerous Method
August 24, 2011 By Jon Lyus
The three stars of David Cronenberg’s latest line up for a much better attempt at selling you the tale of Jung and Freud and their work with a troubled patient.
Viggo Mortensen reunites with his Eastern Promises and A History of Violence director and is joined by Michael Fassbender, Keria Knightley and Vincent Cassell for this adaptation of Christopher Hampton’s 2002 play The Talking Cure.
The chance to see Fassbender and Mortensen on screen under Cronenberg’s hand is enticing indeed and the recent trailer set things up nicely. This new poster is an improvement on the last one we saw, proving that Photoshop can be used for good once in a while.
Lionsgate are releasing this isn the UK and we saw a little of the film at Big Screen recently. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
Here’s the poster, clicken it to enlargify.
