Although he has two of the most-anticipated titles in Toronto, super-hot actor Michael Fassbender is no longer coming to town to promote Shame, his sexually charged reunion with Hunger director Steve McQueen, or A Dangerous Method, in which he plays pioneer shrink Carl Jung.

Publicists behind the films would not say why, only that circumstances prevented him from being here.

The sound you just heard was thousands of female festgoers weeping and reaching for their DVD of Jane Eyre.

The reason Michael Fassbender didn't come to Toronto for Saturday's gala premiere of A Dangerous Method became clear when he accepted the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival for his portrait of a sex addict in Shame.

However, he is expected to hop on a flight and make it to today's presentation of Shame in Toronto.
