X-Men: First Class Star Michael Fassbender Reveals James Bond Wish
Fassbender keen to add 007 to his resume...
May 25, 2011 by Alex Winehouse
Michael Fassbender has admitted that he would jump at the chance to play James Bond.
The actor plays Erik Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto, in Matthew Vaughn's blockbuster X-Men: First Class, a role that was heavily indebted to the British secret agent.
He told Metro: "I grew up with James Bond, it would be an amazing experience. At the moment, as I say, those kind of things... I try sort of and deal with one film at a time."
The German-born star added: "I think Daniel [Craig] is doing a fantastic job, he would have been my choice for Bond when they were looking for a new one. I think he’s a brilliant actor, I saw him in Love Is The Devil many years ago and I was blown away by him.
"So, you know, we’ll see - I’ll take everything as it comes."
Fassbender is set to be a very busy man over the coming months, with roles in David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Mind, and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus coming up, as well as a reunion with Hunger director Steve McQueen's Shame.
X-Men: First Class is released on June 1.

Michael Fassbender 'flattered' by James Bond suggestions
By Katie Hasty - 'X-Men: First Class' actor speaks on potentially succeeding Daniel Craig as 007

If "X-Men: First Class" fares well at the box office, actor Michael Fassbender may be further employed as once-and-future villain Magneto in the franchise series. But if the cards fall right, he may be playing another cinematic icon: James Bond.
The Hollywood echo chamber has suggested that the German-born actor could be a natural successor to Daniel Craig's 007, and the 34-year-old is "flattered" at the thought.
"Daniel [Craig] is doing a great job. We'll see what happens. I'm very flattered that people made that sort of link but, I don't know, we'll see," he said during a "First Class" press conference in New York today (May 25).
He did not mention if he'd been approached in any sort of formal manner, and isn't going to count on an offer either (even if there are Facebook groups devoted to the cause). The Bond franchise seems to be back on its feet, and Craig hasn't outlined plans to retire from filling those black-shined shoes. "I don't like to plan anything ever because it never seems to work," he said, adding that he was going to "see how [x-men] does. And i'm sort of in the middle of another [film]."
Any one of those films could include David Cronenberg’s "A Dangerous Method," Ridley Scott’s "Prometheus" and Steve McQueen's "Shame," all on Fassbender's busy forthcoming slate.
Fassbender has been attached to several other action films, including "Inglorious Basterds" and "300."

Michael Fassbender on Playing James Bond After Daniel Craig
Posted: May 26th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
There are plenty of people who would love to take over the James Bond franchise after Daniel Craig leaves the iconic role. P. Diddy has expressed interest and so has Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four).
Now, in an interview with Michael Fassbender, the actor was asked if he would be interested in the role considering that his version of Magneto was so Bond-like in "X-Men: First Class."
"I really don't plan anything ever because it never seems to work," said the actor. "I'm just [like] - let's just get this film out and see how this one does. And I'm sort of in the middle of doing [Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus']. And Daniel [Craig] is doing a great job. We'll see what happens. I'm very flattered that people are sort of making that link, but – I don't know. We'll see."
Question: Would you like to see Fassbender as James Bond?

Michael Fassbender Plays it Cool with 007 Rumors
By: MacKenzie Wilson Posted: Wednesday, May 25th, 2011
Michael Fassbender
James Bond. That name still has a ring like no other. And there's only six (so far) actors who have been blessed to portray the fictional British spy during its nearly 50-year run on the silver screen.
With Bond 23 slated for a 2012 release, rumors are starting to swirl over who might step into 007's shoes once Daniel Craig departs. One name that keeps coming up is Michael Fassbender.
The Irish-bred actor, who we'll see as Magneto in this summer's X-Men: First Class, hasn't been asked... that we know of. However, his First Class director Matthew Vaughn is apparently all for it. But Fassbender isn't entertaining the idea just yet, as he has plenty of other films in the pipeline, including this year's Haywire and A Dangerous Method. And besides, he has a massive blockbuster coming up in just over a week.
"Listen – I grew up with James Bond, it would be an amazing experience," the former Hex star told The Metro. "At the moment, as I say, those kind of things... I try sort of and deal with one film at a time."
He added: "I think Daniel [Craig] is doing a fantastic job, he would have been my choice for Bond when they were looking for a new one.
