Second Prometheus Still Surfaces
July 24, 2011

What Bloody Disgusting claims is a second image from Ridley Scott's Prometheus has surfaced, offering up an odd landscape that a helicopter and small ground team appear to be pouring over. The following should be considered a possible spoiler so proceed at your own risk.

Common speculation around the Internet is that this still is from the film's opening act and possibly set in the past. The team in the image could be responding to a discovery that will ultimately change the way humanity views its origins.

This image is a stark contrast to the first that Fox released a couple days ago timed with their Prometheus Comic-Con presentation. I've included that image below as well.

Prometheus was originally penned by Jon Spaihts as a direct prequel of Alien, but then was reworked by Damon Lindelof into an all-new story that retains only elements of Spaihts' idea. The film stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Ben Foster and Guy Pearce.

Look for Prometheus in 3D to arrive in theaters on June 8, 2012.

SDCC 2011: First Official Still From Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS

by Todd Brown, July 22, 2011 4:52 PM

After months of speculation and weeks of crappy leaked set photos popping up online, Twentieth Century Fox today gave fans what they really want: The first official still from Ridley Scott's upcoming Prometheus.

A project that first began as a prequel to Alien before morphing into something else, Prometheus is surely the most anticipated science fiction project coming down the line. Though Scott has only done scifi twice - Alien and Blade Runner - both previous efforts are widely regarded as absolute classics of the genre and his return to the genre is cause for celebration.

Scott is working here with writer Damon Lindelof with a stellar cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce and Ben Foster. No word on who that is bouncing around above.

New Image and Details for Ridley Scott's Prometheus Revealed at Comic-Con
Posted 07.22.11 by Ryan

To date, the secrecy surrounding Prometheus, director Ridley Scott's return to sci-fi movies, has been frustrating, culminating in an official synopsis that revealed little to nothing.

Finally, fans are getting an inkling as to how Prometheus is connected to Scott's 1979 classic Alien. The first photo from Prometheus only shows an unidentified figure falling in space. However, the spacesuit looks like the ones used in the original movie. There were more similarities between the two movies revealed during the panel at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con.

During the panel, moderated by Lindelof and joined by Charlize Theron, Empire Tweeted that "2 minutes of Prometheus" was shown that revealed a "blond [Michael] Fassbender, Charlize Theron doing naked press-ups [us Yanks call them "push-ups"] and a creature getting flamethrowered."

Theron's character was given more details, with The Playlist reporting that the actress plays the head of Weyland-Yutani, referred to as "The Company" throughout the Alien movies. "She is really the suit, she's the one that runs the company," said Theron. She is also apparently a fan of naked press-ups. Theron explained how she came to be cast in the movie.

When Mad Max [4] was [delayed], Ridley reached out to me and it was like, read it in 30 minutes or its going to explode. You can ask any actor, there's always that one director that's a dream and Ridley was that for me. This character is so different from everybody else that's on this mission, somebody who comes from a cold, economic suit business. We explored how to make her more layered and that's when I really got excited. There's something incredible when you see that potential and really want it to work out. You're just throwing these crazy ideas at someone you admire and a week later I get this draft and I'm like, Wow. It was really flattering and exciting.

The other characters of the scientific team in the movie — played by Fassbender,Noomi Rapace,Logan Marshall-Green, and Idris Elba — remain secret. Speaking to Scott via a live video link from Iceland, Lindelof asked if there will be a robot in Prometheus (Fassbender's character is rumored to be an android). "There may be two," replied Scott.

While fans are clearly desperate for more details, Lindelof did reveal that Prometheus will tackle some "big ideas," EW reports. "It covers a vast expanse of time, past, present, and future," said Lindelof.

It doesn't take place on Earth in any real significant way. The way we're exploring the future is away from Earth and [asking] what are people like now? What have they gone through and what are they thinking of? Space exploration in the future is going to evolve into this idea that it's not just about going out there and finding planets to build colonies. It also has this inherent idea that the further we go out, the more we learn about ourselves. The characters in this movie are preoccupied by the idea: What are our origins?

Scott revealed, as usual, next to nothing, except his love of 3-D.

3D has been a wonderful exercise but I was brought up as a camera operator so its really about lensing and all that kind of stuff. So with the help I've had from a wonderful cameraman and his technical team its been, for me, a pretty straight forward ride. That said I'll never work without 3D again, even for small dialogue scenes. I love the whole process. 3D opens up the universe of even a small dialogue scene so I've been very impressed with that.

While this is the most that has been revealed of Prometheus, there's still plenty of questions left, such as: Will there be aliens in the movie? Will the movie include the "space jockey" character from Scott's Alien? Lindelof explained that more of Prometheus will be revealed later this year. "You're going to see some things in the late fall that are going to start proclaiming what Prometheus is," said the screenwriter.

Prometheus began as a prequel to Alien, but after screenwriter Damon Lindelof was hired to rewrite the script, the Prometheus title was unveiled and Scott explained that the movie had "evolved" into a "new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place" with fans able to recognize "strands of Alien's DNA — whatever that means.

First Official Image From Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’
Published on July 21, 2011 by Jordan Raup ·

Although it is currently still shooting, Ridley Scott is bringing his upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus to Comic-Con and Twentieth Century Fox have revealed the first image. Written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts, film stars Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Kate Dickie, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, Guy Pearce, and Idris Elba, but it hard to tell which one of them is in the photo above, even in high-resolution. I like the set design, but it looks somewhat CG-y, whereas I’ve loved the practical effects Scott has been able to achieve his career. Check it out above and click for that hi-res!

Synopsis:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Prometheus hits theaters June 1st, 2012.

Comic-Con: First image from "Prometheus" keeps things mysterious
Ridley Scott's much-anticipated "Alien" prequel doesn't reveal much with first image.
Posted 07/21/2011 5:46 PM by Rick Marshall

Ever since the notion of a Ridley Scott-directed prequel to "Alien" became a reality, everyone's been dying to know more about the film, "Prometheus," and its ties to the famous sci-fi horror franchise. Today, the first image from the film was revealed during Comic-Con International in San Diego, and it ended up generating even more questions about the much-anticipated project.

The image features an unidentified character in a space suit, drifting outside some sort of vehicle.

Yup. That's pretty much it.

See? We told you it didn't offer much info!

Even so, the "Prometheus" tease isn't likely to dampen anyone's expectations for the film, which stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce, among others. Early speculation points to the unidentified astronaut being Rapace, the female lead.

Of course, all of this speculation could be a moot point 25 hours from now, as the 20th Century Fox panel kicks off today at Comic-Con. While it's doubtful that all our questions will be answered, there's likely to be a few choice nuggets of information dropped by the "Prometheus" team -- and at this point, we'll take everything we can get.

"Prometheus" hits theaters June 8, 2012.

Our first look at Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS
Brandon Marcus July 21, 2011 0

In case you weren’t sure, Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS, the upcoming ALIEN prequel/sequel/spin-off, takes place in space.

That’s pretty much all we learn from this first image. The production gives the term “under wraps” new meaning but we’re likely to see more from it today when it gets a special panel at Comic Con. Until then, we’ll just have to dissect this picture and figure out what’s going on. Someone (Charlize Theron? Noomi Rapace?) is in a space suit, carrying a bag, floating through the big black abyss. Anything beyond that is pure speculation. No sign of Xenomorphs, Space Jockeys or anything else ALIEN-related.

PROMETHEUS stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce. It opens June 8, 2012.

First Official Photo From Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS!

July 21, 2011 9:26 pm
Matt Holmes

Coming Soon have debuted the first official photo from Ridley Scott’s uber exciting sci-fi film Prometheus, a movie which we are told is kind of prequel to his groundbreaking 1978 horror in space Alien but they would rather we called it an original work of fiction (i.e. – don’t expect this film to be tied to future boxsets of the Alien saga, at least not for many, many years).

Based on what is said to be a cracking script by Jon Spaihts but made even more awesome by Scott and Lost writer Damon Lindelof – the film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Ben Foster, Guy Pearce and Logan Marshall-Green and is due to hit theaters on June 8, 2012.

We now have our first official photo of the film above with a crew member floating in space (is that Nostromo?) and an official synopsis from 20th Century Fox;

Prometheus takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Ridley Scott pondering life’s ultimate mystery in his first science fiction film since Blade Runner and in a film that has connections to his Alien franchise AND stars that many talented people? Yes, please.

Actual footage from Prometheus will be debuting at the Con soon and we will pick-up the reaction.

First 'Prometheus' Photo Arrives, Answers Nothing

Posted 7/21/11 4:20 pm ET by Josh Wigler in News, Photos

As a huge fan of the "Alien" franchise that Ridley Scott shepherded into existence, all I can really say about this first official image from "Prometheus" is… wow.

Comic-Con rages on and delivers beautiful gifts even to the fans out there who aren't attending the San Diego nerd utopia. Case in point: a brand new image from "Prometheus" (via Collider) that admittedly reveals very little about the movie's tightly under wraps story line, but increases the already feverish appetite for more information all the same.

It's actually fairly amazing how much excitement and enthusiasm is invested into "Prometheus" considering we know so little about it. We know the core cast—a group that consists of Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba and others—and we know (from Fassbender's own lips) that "Prometheus" has a connection to the "Alien" franchise. Throw the creative team of director Ridley Scott and writer Damon Lindelof into the mix and really, what else do we need to know?

Hint: the answer is everything. EVERYTHING!

For now, "everything" remains elusive, so we'll settle on teases, as well as an interview with Lindelof himself. We're chatting with the "Prometheus" scribe and "Lost" mastermind soon, so keep it locked into MTV Movies Blog for more info.

What a night! Jon is currently working on the new image collection from The Hobbit and I’m doing the first image from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus released by Twentieth Century Fox.

First Image from PROMETHEUS
by Brendan Bettinger Posted:July 21st, 2011 at 12:47 pm

Prometheus probably has the highest ratio of Audience Anticipation to Public Information of any movie in production. It’s a quasi-Alien prequel (hence the anticipation), but the only solid detail we know is Prometheus takes place in outer space. The first image released by Warner Bros. confirms that much. Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, and possibly Ben Foster star. I can’t tell you definitively who is in that space suit, but my bet is on Rapace, the female lead in the movie. We should learn more at Fox Comic-Con panel later today — check back soon for our recap.

Prometheus is scheduled for release on June 8, 2012. See the new image after the jump.

Images From PROMETHEUS Comic Con Trailer Are Online

August 1, 2011 3:04 pm
Matt Holmes

IMAGES REMOVED BY THE REQUEST OF 20th CENTURY FOX

Dread Central have posted online bootlegged and unfortunately rather murky, low-quality snaps from the Prometheus footage Comic Con presentation that went down in San Diego last week. The images offer us our first look at the bigger setting of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi movie and our first glimpse at actors Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron and Idris Elba.

You know, for a movie that Fox are so desperate to tell us is not an Alien prequel, boy does it feel like one so far, especially with this kind of imagery.

Kudos to the Comic Con attendee who sly took the images but dude… why did you wait over a week to share them with us?

Message to Fox – How long do we have to wait until we can see this footage?

The film itself is due June 8th, 2012

Images From Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ Comic-Con Footage Leak

Comic-Con wrapped up over a week ago so we’re kind of surprised it’s taken this long for this to happen, but some pretty grainy, lo-res but no less intriguing snaps from the “Prometheus” footage shown in San Diego have made it to the web, providing us our first look at Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba in the film.

Script Flags (via STYD) claim the pictures contain “explicit details & spoilers” but that’s not entirely true. Scott and the rest of the cast and crew have been tremendously tightlipped about the “Alien” universe flick and we’re pretty sure whatever Ridley Scott showed in San Diego was just a tease of what’s to come, and not some kind of movie spoiling moment. That said, if you’d rather remain in the dark as to the look of the film, you might just want to stop reading here. However, is this likely a taste of the teaser trailer we’re likely to get this fall? Yeah, probably.

As you already known, plot details are pretty much unknown, however Theron did reveal her character is the head of Weyland-Yutani aka The Company and she looks particularly steely here. Rapace looks like she’s bringing some of her ‘Dragon Tattoo’ steez to Scott’s film and Fassbender appears to have joined Daft Punk.

The 3D film is shooting in both PG-13 and R-rated versions with a decision to be made later as to which version will hit theaters and all will be revealed on June 8, 2012.

Vehicle Photos from Set of "Alien" Prequel
Posted: August 28th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

About a month ago, 20th Century Fox unveiled the first official photo from Ridley Scott's upcoming "Alien" prequel, called "Prometheus." And today we have two photos of vehicles that were spotted on the set.

The images come courtesy of the AlienPrequelNews website that pointed out that one of the vehicles can be seen on the right side of the official photo. The site claims that the vehicle is a "huge lifter."

"Prometheus" stars Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, and Ben Foster. It is set to hit theaters on June 8th, 2012.

Leaked Photos of Two Futuristic Vehicles Used in Ridley Scott's Prometheus
An anonymous source has contacted Alien Prequel News, and sent them three photos, two vehicles, and an alien set.

Synopsis- Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Today I can reveal a couple of the things that were hidden behind those walls thanks to an anonymous source.

This source has also informed me that the image of what was thought to be rocket engines I posted earlier this month are actually not rocket engines but huge air vents from inside a space ship.

The first of today's images shows the vehicle we've previously seen glimpses of in the grainy SDCC 2011 images, and the second image looks a bit like one of the 'feet' seen on the right hand side in the official image.

My source tells me this is in fact a huge lifter.

*UPDATED* – Part of the Prometheus trailer leaks online
Posted on November 21, 2011 by weyland

It seems that Fox is preparing to release the first trailer for Promtheus. A contributor to the film’s IMDB forum claims to have been shown the trailer as part of a marketing survey. As well as his detailed description, he also mananged to get a few seconds of video. It certainly looks legit to us!

You can view the shakey video footage here, and read the description below:

It seems that Fox have pounced, unsurprisingley, and the video clip has been removed.

“Trailer starts with a clip of Ripley from Alien and the words “What if the beginning” and then we see the mouth of the Xenomorph “Wasnt the beginning” or something like that. Then theres this shot of like a giant waterfall on some planet I don’t know what the planet was and a ship traveling to it.

Then we see like two cloaked people talking to eachother near the waterfall or something and theres a voice over from who I’m guessing is Noomi Rapace and she says something like: “A woman once told me a story of how man was created” then we see this giant human like creature thing (which im guessing is the Space Jockey thing from Alien but I’m not sure) Voiceover: “First there was the sun” and we see this giant oval alien ship covering the sky. Voice over ” And the sun said I’m alone and I have noone to shinedown on so it created man” and another shot of the giant space jockey thing. and then theres like shots of the crew on the space ship traveling to that planet

You see like a quick shot of Noomi Rapace and and the rest of the crew and a bunch of stuff is happening they’re all in their space suits running around with theyre flame throwers and stuff and theres this epic shot of this giant space station thing that looks like droid control ship from Star Wars Episdoe 1 falling down through the sky and the words

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ALIEN come up and more shots of the crew in the ship running from explosions and stuff. Theres a shot of a green laser scanner thing running through a woman’s belly some more stuff then theres a quick shot of something bursting out from the space jockey thing.

And the last shot of the trailer is a close up Michal Fassbender in his space suit looking down at a kid face to face and he holds up a finger and he says “Big things have small beginnings” then the title comes up PROMETHEUS 6.8.12

I marked out at Fassbender that was a cool line, great teaser trailer it should be hitting theatres within the next month or so maybe I can’t wait”

Prometheus is directed by Ridley Scott, from a screenplay by Damon Lindelof, based on an earlier script by Jon Spaihts. The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Patrick Wilson and Kate Dickie, and is due for release on June 8th 2012

First "Prometheus" Footage Leaked Online
Posted: November 21st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

During Comic-Con, 20th Century Fox gave fans a look at the trailer for "Prometheus," which is Ridley Scott's prequel to "Alien." Six months later, several blury scenes from that trailer leaked online. Check out the scenes below (music added from original "Alien" film), in addition to a video showing some clearer shots from the trailer.

Plot: The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.

The new movie stars Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Noomi Rapace (Sherlock Holmes 2), Charlize Theron, and Idris Elba. It is set to hit theaters on June 8th, 2012.

Prometheus: Trailer Description and Clip

We’re really surprised that Fox has held out on releasing Prometheus promotional materials for so long. The only release we’ve seen was one photo in July, and while Comic Con attendees saw a teaser trailer, nothing has officially made its way online. You’re still going to have to wait to see the full trailer, but someone recently saw a test trailer and provided a decription, along with a footage clip.

Directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus is scheduled for release on June 8th, 2012 and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, and Guy Pearce. Hopefully, the full trailer referred to below will be released before the end of the year.

**Spoiler Warning***

Exclusive: New Prometheus Trailer Footage
Prometheus News | Posted by ikarop on 26 Nov 2011 20:39 GMT

Yesterday, we reported on the existence of a brand new trailer for Prometheus. As mentioned before, this new trailer lasts for around one minute and features a handful of scenes from the footage that was shown at Comic-con this year, scenes from the recently leaked 18 seconds teaser trailer and much more. You can watch it below now. The quality isn’t ideal but the video is definitely worth a look.

Special thanks to James Smith for sending us the recording.

Hi-Res Teaser Poster for PROMETHEUS
by Matt Goldberg Posted:December 14th, 2011 at 11:30 am

As you may have noticed, summer 2012 movies are getting marketed like crazy as audiences head to the multiplex over the holidays. We’ve recently had at least one trailer every day this week for a summer film, and posters usually come along with the package. We haven’t gotten a trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus (or anything beyond these images), but a poster for the film may have gone online. Collider reader John sent us a link to a snapped photo of what could be the film’s teaser poster. It looks legit, especially since there’s no MPAA rating on the bottom. Fakes usually carry that even though the film hasn’t come close to being screened and rated by the MPAA.

If it is the poster, it’s serviceable. There’s nothing to imply the connection to Alien (or Alien‘s DNA), but the poster lets you know it’s sci-fi and the movie arrives June 8, 2012. I can’t make out the tagline, but we’ll update the story when the official version is release. Hit the jump to check out the poster. The 3D film stars Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, and Guy Pearce. [Update: The poster was the real deal. You can check out the official, hi-res version after the jump.]

Some people are seeing a subtle similarity between this poster and the poster for Alien. I’m not seeing it, but I believe the comparison is intended and some folks will notice how the Prometheus poster references the Alien poster. I’ve put both below.

Prometheus Trailer Arrives Online
Nothing to do with Alien, eh?

22 December 2011 | Written by Ali Plumb

Trailer week 2011, you've been good to us. The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit, and now this, the very teasery trailer for Ridley Scott's Prometheus - which is now live over on Apple.

Clearly hugely inspired by the original trailer for Sir Ridley's original Alien (love the title slowly appearing on screen and the eerie shrieks on the soundtrack), it contains our first (moving) glimpses of Scott's summer blockbuster, which seems to be on an entirely different scale to Alien, while providing some refreshingly familiar imagery.

Meanwhile, it poses more questions than it answers - just right for a teaser, eh? Who is that unfortunate Prometheus crew-member whose space helmet appears to be soaked in acid? Why is Charlize Theron running down corridors on the Prometheus itself? Is that Noomi Rapace, as lead scientist Elizabeth Shaw, screaming in agony at the end? If so, why so? Just what is Idris Elba looking at, and why does he seem miffed about it? And why does that spaceship, the one that appears to be crashing at the end, ring a few bells?

Overall, in a week where we've been spoiled with some fantastic trailers for next year's movies, this one may just be the best of the bunch. Wow. Just wow.

Prometheus is out in the UK on June 1.
