Redlands celebrates classic cinema

The Redlands Art Association and the Krikorian Redlands Cinema is presenting their fall 2011 Redlands Cinema Classic series.

The series celebrates the best in foreign, art and specialty films. All proceeds from the series benefit art education programs in Redlands.

The classic Charlotte Bronte novel "Jane Eyre" will be shown. This version stars Mia Wasikowska ("Alice in Wonderland"), Michael Fassbender ("X-Men: First Class") and Dame Judy Dench ("Shakespeare in Love"). There will also be two screenings of this film on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 2:30 p.m.

Did you know that Mozart had a talented sister? That fact is explored in "Nanneri, La Soeur De Mozart." The film tells the tale of Anna Maria Mozart who was forced to give up her musical career to her brother. The film, in French with English subtitles, will screen Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m.

The final film in the series is "Le Herisson (The Hedgehog)." The film is about a small girl who decides to kill herself, but first makes a film about the people who live in her upscale apartment building. The film will screen Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 2:30 p.m.
