X-Men trailer comments
There's no trailer out yet, although I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up as a trailer on Green Hornet's film.
But a group had the chance to see it and here are comments about it.

RUMOR: First X-Men: First Class Trailer Details!
Supposedly, the first trailer for Fox's X-Men: First Class was screened to a "special" crowd, which you can read one of their descriptions after the jump. Check it Out!
Five months away from it's release, the much-skeptical X-Men: First Class film has yet to be advertised, other than interviews with the cast. And while the reason falls behind 20th Century Fox, many have been urning for a teaser trailer, or anything official for the Matthew Vaughn-directed prequel. Supposedly, Chris Lee(?) saw the first theatrical trailer, with it's description below.
The trailer opens with the 20th Century Fox logo which pans up as the two spotlight beams cross and form a white "X" on the left of the screen. A white circle goes around the "X" forming the X-Men logo, as Magneto's helmet comes up on the right.
Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan voice over the opening lines about destiny and which side will you stand for as scenes of each in their previous X-Men movie roles flash until the entire screen flashes from white to black.
A very young Xavier and Erik meet for the first time, followed by a different angle of the scene from the opening of X-Men in the concentration camp.
Camera pans outside of an old castle-style building that greatly resembles the X-mansion. McAvoy and Fassbender are seen walking through the halls. The words "One wanted peace" flash by Xavier.
Scene transitions to Erik yelling dramatically as metal tables in the room begin to float around him. Xavier and Mags shake hands with a tall man in a lab coat introduced as Dr. McCoy.
The words "The other was too far gone" flash as a very pissed off Erik storms through a hallway killing guards as he passes them.
Cut scene to what appears to be a red Nightcrawler with swords taking out a room full of people; the close up reveals Azazel's face.
The Hellfire Club stand next to Xavier on a bed as Emma goes into diamond form. Olver Platt and Kevin Bacon were next to Emma in black aristocratic clothes, with Emma wearing the exact same outfit from the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon.
Mystigue on a bed with her skin turning black; Beast is shown transforming, with his feet growing and toes webbing and fur growing.
Havok shoot a red beam of energy (looks almost exactly like cyclops's eye beam, but larger) from his chest (SIDE NOTE: Havok's powers in comics have always had a blue energy).
It then shows Beast all blue and furry (looking almost exactly like Kelsey Grammer in make-up) in the pilot seat of a crashing jet, followed by several rockets flying towards an island.
Xavier's face goes all CGI and his head begins to go bald as he mentally pulls a large ship that was sinking out of the water, as well as some smaller boats around it (he's telekinetic now?).
Back to Xavier (with hair) telling Erik he only wanted peace for him, and he replies there was never a chance for anyone to have that.
Final scene: Erik picks up a black helmet, then he is shown from behind wearing a black and red suit (no cape or coat though) and the helmet. Screen cuts to black and the X-Men: First Class logo shows up (the one described above), then the release date.
Take this with a grain of salt, as of now. In the meantime, X-Men: First Class hits theaters June 3, this year. And it's speculated that a Superbowl spot is granted. What do you think?

‘X-Men: First Class’ Trailer Will Not Debut With ‘The Green Hornet’ (UPDATED)
Posted on Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 by Germain Lussier
UPDATE: Sorry, apparently, even the Los Angeles Times can be wrong. 20th Century Fox has just said that they don’t know when the trailer for X-Men: First Class will premiere but it won’t be on The Green Hornet. Sorry if we got your hopes up. It did seem a little weird for a Fox trailer to premiere on a Sony movie.
We haven’t even seen an official frame from Matthew Vaughn‘s June 3 release, X-Men: First Class but now, almost out of nowhere, the trailer is mere days away. According to the Los Angeles Times, the trailer for X-Men: First Class, starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, and Kevin Bacon will premiere this Friday on prints of Michel Gondry‘s The Green Hornet. We ran a detailed trailer description last week, so if you can’t wait, you can read that again after the jump.
Once again, thanks to the Daily Blam for this trailer description. The timing would lead one to believe that it’s accurate. We’ll find out Friday.
The trailer opens with the 20th Century Fox logo which pans up as the two spotlight beams cross and form a white “X” on the left of the screen. A white circle goes around the “X” forming the X-Men logo, as Magneto’s helmet comes up on the right.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Trailer Is NOT Attached To THE GREEN HORNET This Weekend
Share Posted by Rama On January - 12 - 2011
Real quick now, Collider has set the record straight to debunk rumors earlier today that the trailer for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS trailer might be attached to THE GREEN HORNET movie which opens this weekend. So once again, there is no truth to that, which makes sense, why on earth would 20th Century Fox debut their summer blockbuster to a Columbia Pictures’ film?! But I’m bettin’ Fox is saving it for Super Bowl spot
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass).
Jane Goldman, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, all working on the script. Fox wants it released on June 3rd, 2011.
Michael Fassbender will play Magneto
James McAvoy will play Prof. Xavier
Rose Byrne will play Moira MacTaggert
January Jones will play Emma Frost
Nicholas Hoult will play Beast
Caleb Landry Jones will play Banshee
Jennifer Lawrence will play Mystique
Jason Flemyng will play Azazel
Oliver Platt as the man in black
Álex González as Riptide
Lucas Till as Havok
Kevin Bacon as the Sebastian Shaw
Ray Wise as Secretary Of The United States
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. But then “a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”

‘X-Men: First Class’ Trailer Won’t Be Seen With ‘The Green Hornet’ But During Superbowl
One of those crazy ‘X-Men: First Class‘ movie rumors got out today, and I was shocked at how easily all the movie sites jumped on it without obviously doing any research. How often would a Fox movie trailer appear with a Sony film (‘The Green Hornet‘)?
I think I was more surprised at the sites that ran this story unchecked, but thankfully we’ve got our great sources on the ‘X-Men: First Class’ movie that already told us that the first official trailer from the movie will be premiering at this years Superbowl. Smart choice to bring it out then since they’ll have way more people seeing it than they would with that not too hot ‘Green Hornet‘ movie. So, we hate to break the news to all those people who saw it splashed on all the numerous websites that either to need to get some sources on the movies they’re reporting on or just do a little more research. Here’s some of the onset images that were taken this past fall though, and below we’ll rerun the first eyewitness view of the ‘X-Men: First Class’ movie trailer to get your worked up into a slather for Superbowl Sunday!

Watch Trailers for 'X-Men' and 'Arthur' February 11, 2011
X-Men: First Class
Only weeks ago we previewed leaked screen shots of Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class; which wasn’t much, but had us anticipating the trailer at least. And here it is. Starring Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr and James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, the film takes us back to the origins of X-Men before their transformation as Magneto and Professor X: to the 1960s amidst the Cold War. Though there is little dialogue the trailer gives you a taste of film’s special effects accompanied by dark, cinematic music. Fassbender is guaranteed to give a standout performance here. The cast also boats January Jones, Rose Byrne, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult and Oliver Platt. X-Men: First Class is set to open in the US on June 3.

First X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Trailer Arrives
February 10th, 2011
Author Albert Ching
…and here it is, the first trailer to this summer’s X-Men: First Class. Sure, it’s got clips from the original movies and an audio clip of former president John F. Kennedy, but there’s plenty of new stuff too, including lots of mutant powers on display, what appears to be an early version of the X-Men’s Blackbird jet, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Nightcrawler’s dad Azazel teleporting around. Yet the focus is definitely on the relationship between James McAvoy’s Xavier and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto — hey, why are we talking? Watch the trailer:
The movie, directed by Matthew Vaughn and also starring Kevin Bacon and January Jones, is out on June 3. Based on early response, it looks to be swaying some folks who have previously expressed concerns over the film — though, of course, the true test comes in, y’know, actually watching the movie.

X-Men: First Class – Trailer
10.02.11
After a day of drama on Facebook, the X-Men: First Class trailer has made its debut. In an attempt to harness social media, Fox decided that the trailer would appear on the X-Men Facebook page first, only to then switch the launch time on everyone waiting, making a great number of fans very angry. Thousands of unhappy comments appeared on the page, from kids who were waiting behind at school to see it, to people in the UK who wanted to go to bed. After generating a lot of bad will, the trailer finally went up, and you know what, it’s pretty good -
On course then to be the thoughtful, well-acted movie we’re hoping for. Michael Fassbender as Magneto looks like he’s going to own. I would have liked to have seen more of Kevin Bacon as the villain, but then there’s another, longer trailer to come.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass), the fifth X-Men movie in 11 years focuses on the relationship between Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto, and on the origin of their groups – the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants. As you can see, it’s set during the swinging 60s. The cast also includes January Jones, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence and Lucas Till.
X-Men: First Class will be released on June 3, unless it’s late. Fox envisions this film as the first in a new trilogy.

X-Men First Class trailer arrives
'Peace was never an option'
By Matt Maytum | Feb 10th 2011
The first trailer for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class has hit the web, and it's whipped us into a frenzied excitement.
Considering the movie is expected to hit cinemas this summer, there hadn't even been much in the way of images until recently, so it's exciting to finally get a glimpse of the 60s-set movie.
First Class focuses on the early days of the mutant superheroes, before Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik 'Magneto' Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) became bitter enemies.
The trailer reveals some more plot details, including the fact that the film will take place during the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis - during which the US and Russia nearly started World War III - and that the film will follow best friends Xavier and Lensherr as their relationship deteriorates.
Check it out for yourself below:
There may have been doubt, but Vaughn looks to have but those fears to bed with this trailer showcasing the dramatic, dark and stylish film he has put together.
As well exciting glimpses at Cyclops, Emma Frost, Mystique and Hank McCoy becoming Beast - it looks like McAvoy and Fassbender have nailed their roles, and will anchor the film with weighty, dramatic performances.
We cannot wait.
X-Men: First Class is expected to hit cinemas on 2 June 2011.

First Trailer for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
by Matt Goldberg Posted:February 10th, 2011 at 2:50 pm
Fox has released the first trailer for X-Men: First Class. As far as teaser trailers go, I think this one looks pretty cool. Michael Fassbender looks like he owns the role of Magneto and I like that it doesn’t try to throw too many special effects in your face. Also, I like the darker tone they’re establishing with Magneto making a dude stab himself and the dark cloud of the Cold War overshadowing the narrative.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. Directed by Matthew Vaughn from a story by Bryan Singer, X-Men: First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Oliver Platt. The film is set to open June 3rd.
Trailer via Facebook.
Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: First Class:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon. Matthew Vaughn (“Kick-Ass”) directs, and the producers are Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer. Singer, who helmed the acclaimed blockbusters “X-Men” and “X2,” wrote the story for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

X-Men: First Class Trailer Has Arrived, and It's Awesome
Next
Thursday - 2:55PM
All I can say is: hell yeah! The X-Men: First Class trailer is finally here, and it's out to show all of the comic book films exactly how it's done. The prequel to the X-Men franchise follows the early days of Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) as they learn how to channel their powers (and before their abilities cause a rift between them). But they're obviously not alone in their fight; the preview also highlights a young Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and Emma Frost (January Jones), along with the rest of the esteemed cast.
This trailer is everything a good trailer should be: suspenseful, sexy, and most importantly, it leaves me craving more. As much as I love the other X-Men movies, it's exciting to see a set of fresh faces taking on the mutants we've come to love (or love to hate). The movie hits on June 3, but take a look after the jump.

X-Men: First Class: FTW or WTF?
The new trailer is out, so what's our verdict?
February 11, 2011 February 11, 2011 February 11, 2011
After weeks of head-scratching as to why we haven't seen footage of a big summer movie that comes out in five months, X-Men: First Class unleashed its trailer goodness upon us yesterday.
The verdict? More Magneto raising submarines out of Cuban Missile Crisis waters, please - umkay? thanks!
IGN puts on Cerebro for this Second Opinion piece about the trailer for our favorite mutants' first day of school. Oh and feel free, fellow Marvel enthusiasts, to drop some praise or anti-praise in the comments section below. Just remember to take generous tokes off your inhalers before setting out on a nerd rant.
Watch The X-Men Begin
Joey Esposito, IGN Comics: My first reaction to the trailer was utter indifference. In my mind, I have Jeff Parker's comics, and that's all I really need.
But giving it more thought, I have legit reasons for my distaste. First and foremost, why is Angel Salvadore dropping trou in front of Xavier and Magneto while they are lying on a bed? What kind of movie is this? Second, having a spooky portrayal of a JFK speech doesn't make you a period film. Finally, the most valid reason for my dislike is the cheese factor. A shot of Xavier's wheelchair? Really? Let alone all the "Before he was Magneto, he was…" intro text? Give me a break.
Then again, this coming from the guy who had hoped this film would be a campy throwback to the 1960's, a la Adam West's Batman...
Eric Goldman, IGN TV: I really love the X-Men: First Class trailer; the more I watch it, the cooler it gets. It feels atmospheric and intense and the glimpses of Michael Fassbender hint at a really compelling performance.
There's a lot of interesting blink-and-you'll miss moments in that trailer, with plenty for comic book fans to analyze. And yes, that shot of Charles and Erik lying in a bed, looking at a topless Angel Salvadore as she shows off her wings, is one of the more provocative images I've seen in a mainstream comic book movie. And that's great! I love that all of these films are happening, but you don't want them to all feel the same. Right now, I'm pretty hopeful Matthew Vaughn has found a new angle to approach the X-Men from.
Dan Iverson, Entertainment: I like the director and actors, but nothing so far, including this trailer, makes me want to go see the movie. I know I will, due to my fanatical devotion to all thinks geek, but I just wish that the movie didn't look like an odd cologne commercial.
Here's hoping the final product is interesting enough to be worth the price of my ticket.
Phil Pirrello, Entertainment: "Where's Wolverine?"
Not once did I think or say that, which is a testament to the appeal of this early first look at Vaughn's Logan-less prequel. And a Snikt!-free X-Men movie, while blasphemous to some, seems like the right way to go, judging by the tone of the trailer.
All the cool money shots are here – Beast in the cockpit, Mystique's porcupine morphing effect, Magneto Force-choking a levitating submarine. But what really grabbed me is the glimpse at Xavier and Magneto's relationship. Magneto feels like a legitimate threat – something to fear – for the first time in the movie franchise. First Class will most likely live and die on the strength of that relationship, and MacAvoy and Fassbender seem up to the task of making something truly great.
I just hope the rest of the movie surrounding them has a similar mandate.
Jesse Schedeen, Entertainment: Given how Last Stand and X-Men Origins turned out, I've been hard-pressed to muster any excitement at all for First Class. Even the presence of Matthew Vaughan and a strong cast haven't been able to allay my misgivings about the project. If the trailer didn't completely win me over, it at least suggested there's hope for the X-Men in Hollywood yet.
The thing that struck me the most about the trailer is that the film seems to have the Xavier/Magneto dynamic well in hand. The two friends-turned-rivals seem to be at the core of the film's conflict, and that's as it should be. I only wish the movie was entirely focused on Magneto and Xavier and the X-Men didn't factor into the picture at all. With the unfortunate need to attempt to maintain continuity with the other X-films, First Class is left with the scrubs and rejects. I like Darwin and Angel as much as the next comic book geek, but what exactly are they bringing to the table here?
I'm still getting an unfortunate Spider-Man 3 vibe from this project, with the way so many characters and conflicts are being crammed into one place. That's what concerns me the most about First Class right now (other than the fact that it's apparently still filming).
Until we get some more in-depth trailers that reveal how the X-Men recruits and the Hellfire Club factor into this movie, I'm going to continue to be worried about the final product.
Jim Vejvoda, IGN Movies: I really enjoyed the trailer, even if it should have come out long before now. It re-establishes the franchise's cred and serious tone, after the missteps of The Last Stand and Wolverine, while also showing enough action and eye candy to whet people's appetites.
The cast looks good, the costumes look a lot better than they did in the still photos, and I loved the JFK/Cuban Missile Crisis backdrop. I'm now officially excited for this movie.
Cindy White, IGN Blu-ray:
After Brett Ratner screwed up the Dark Phoenix storyline in X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine nearly ruined one of the franchise's most iconic characters, the franchise was definitely in need of a rehabilitation. But would this new iteration be just another catastrophe capitalizing on the X-Men name for box-office bank (this is Hollywood, after all)?
Having now seen the First Class trailer, it seems like director Matthew Vaughn has found a way to spin the X-Men mythology into something totally new, and potentially awesome. I dig the '60s Bond vibe it seems to have going for it, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the mischief that BFF's Charles and Erik get up to. Since X-Men was my gateway drug to the world of comics, I'll always have a soft spot for those uncanny mutants. I just hope the movie turns out to be as good as it looks.

Taking A Closer Look At The Trailer For X-Men: First Class
Friday, February 11th, 2011 at 11:30am
* by Kevin Melrose
With the debut yesterday afternoon of the initial trailer for X-Men: First Class, fans finally got a good look at at director Matthew Vaughn’s vision for the birth of Marvel’s mutant universe set against the backdrop of the Cold War.
It’s certainly an interesting teaser, one that goes to great lengths to establish the tension of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the friendship of young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender). Beyond that, though, it probably raises more questions than it answers: Is Kevin Bacon’s Sebastian Shaw behind the standoff between the United States and the Soviet Union? Who is Oliver Platt’s mysterious character? Is Lucas Till’s Alex Summers Cyclops’ brother … or father? But, hey, it’s a teaser — it’s supposed to tease.
But what exactly did we see in the trailer, and what can it tell us about the plot of X-Men: First Class? Let’s break it down:
The vacant wheelchair of Prof. Charles Xavier in the study we saw in the previous three X-Men films. Xavier’s fate in The Last Stand gives the shot a little extra emotional punch. Note: Commenters with a better scene-for-scene memory of the original X-Men trilogy assure me these “modern-day” photos aren’t recreations, or specially staged shots, but actual images from those movies. I’ll bow to their recall.
And here we have Patrick Stewart (or a convincing stand-in) as Charles Xavier using Cerebro, the familiar device designed to amplify the brainwaves of telepaths, enabling them to locate other mutants across the globe.
James McAvoy (Wanted, The Last King of Scotland) as young Charles Xavier.
It’s difficult to place the setting, but here of course is Magneto’s trademark red helmet, which enables him to resist all but the strongest telepathic attacks.
Magneto, presumably with his Brotherhood of (Evil) Mutants, in a standoff with police.
Michael Fassbender (Hex, Inglourious Basterds) as the young Erik Lensherr, before he became the feared Magneto, Master of Magnetism.
Friends Xavier and Lensherr being escorted through a prison, possibly on their way to recruiting a mutant. The dangerous Raven Darkholme, maybe?
Their base of operations, possibly the original School for Gifted Youngters? It’s definitely not the mansion we saw in the previous three films.
Our first in-trailer look at the assembled First Class: From left, Fassbender as Lensherr, Lucas Till as Alex Summers/Havok, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme/Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Henry McCoy/Beast, McAvoy As Xavier, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy/Banshee, and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert.
At first glance, Lensherr, Summers and Cassidy look like they’ve just returned from a run. But if you look closer, you’ll see a gun in Lensherr’s right hand, which makes me wonder whether they were participating in a training exercise. But why would the future Master of Magnetism need a gun?
They’re watching, and we’re hearing, President John F. Kennedy’s televised address to the nation announcing the discovery that Soviet nuclear-missile bases were being constructed in Cuba. This establishes the tension-filled Cold War/Cuban Missile Crisis backdrop and, in a rather unusual move for comic books and comics-based movies, pins the story to a very specific time: Kennedy’s address was delivered at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 22, 1962.
A better shot of the collected First Class. Take a good look, because that’s the last time in the trailer you’ll see Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy. Although the other young mutants receive their own spotlights — Nicholas Hoult’s Hank McCoy and Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique get a lot of screen time — Jones disappears, leading me to wonder whether Banshee’s role is more minor than I’d thought. Or maybe the character meets a quick death?
McAvoy’s Charles Xavier leads the group through double doors into … what? The room that houses Cerebro (we’ll see that later)? The Blackbird hangar?
Our first in-trailer look at January Jones as Emma Frost, sitting in the curious-looking room we glimpsed on Wednesday in the most recent movie still (we’ll see that shot again later). She’s obviously being observed through a one-way mirror — by whom, we don’t know — which leads me to suspect the room is some kind of power-dampening cell.
I’m a little disappointed to see that Zoë Kravitz’s Angel Salvadore, the insectoid mutant introduced during Grant Morrison’s New X-Men run, is depicted as a stripper in a freaky gentleman’s club.
How freaky, you ask? Xavier and Lensherr are watching Angel’s performance from the comfort of a bed in what looks to be a set from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
Nicholas Hoult (Skins, A Single Man) in the first of many spotlights on young Henry McCoy. Here he holds a syringe containing the serum that will transform him into the blue fur-covered Beast.
Lucas Till (Hannah Montana: The Movie, Battle: Los Angeles) as Alex Summers/Havok, who can absorb ambient cosmic energy and release it as destructive waves (we’ll catch a glimpse of him in action shortly). In Marvel comics, Alex is the younger brother of Scott Summers, creating a bit of a continuity issue for the 20th Century Fox movies, which had previously shown Cyclops as an adult (played by James Marsden).
X-Men: First Class producer Bryan Singer tells Hero Complex that in this movie, the timeline is a little different: “It wouldn’t physically fit for him to be the brother of Cyclops. We take some liberties on that. There are notions, but, um, I don’t want to give away certain interrelations, but let’s just say there are some things that do adhere to the comic books and do so in a way the fans will get a kick out of. And those things can, perhaps, move forward into the future.”
Edi Gathegi (Twilight, Gone Baby Gone) as Armando Muñoz/Darwin who, as introduced in Marvel’s X-Men: Deadly Genesis, is an alien-looking mutant with the power of “reactive evolution.” Here, he’s a taxi driver.
Rose Byrne (Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later) as Dr. Moira McTaggert, a leading authority in genetic mutation, co-founder of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and co-creator of Cerebro. Oh, and Charles Xavier’s love interest.
Academy Award nominees Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) as Raven Darkholme/Mystique, the deadly shapeshifter. Here she’s changing into her natural blue-skinned appearance in what, if I were a betting man, I’d guess is an attempt to seduce or reassure a post-transformation Hank McCoy. We see signs of their romance later in the trailer.
The X-Men’s famous Blackbird breaks through what’s probably the U.S. Naval blockade of Cuba. The Cuba Missile Crisis occurred in October 1962, four years before the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird was introduced, which means we’ll probably learn the X-Men’s aircraft is a CIA-supplied prototype or something Xavier has access to through his connections.
Our first in-trailer look at the X-Men’s blue-and-yellow costumes — a nod to their comic history — as Xavier and Lensherr prepare for a low-altitude jump from the Blackbird into (again, presumably) the waters off Cuba.
A warship — American, probably? — fires on the X-Men’s Blackbird.
Our first in-trailer look at the Beast in his mutated fur-covered form. I may be in the minority, but I like it. I’m betting McCoy’s transformation, and this Cuba showdown, takes place toward the end of the film, largely because I can’t imagine Fox would hire an attractive rising star like Nicholas Hoult, only to obscure him with CGI. Sure, the studio covered Rebecca Romijn in blue body makeup in the previous X-Men movies, but that was little more than an excuse for her to slink around “naked.” Hoult as a yelllow-eyed Cookie Monster isn’t quite as titillating.
More missiles directed at the X-Men’s Blackbird, or at the island itself.
It’s difficult to be sure, but I think that’s Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, following his jump from the Blackbird.
Here’s our first glimpse — outside of that still released last month — of young Erik Lehnsherr using his magnetic powers, this time to stop what looks to be a Soviet soldier.
The transformation of Hoult’s Henry McCoy begins with, ahem, beast-like blue feet. Good luck finding shoes.
Introducing the Hellfire Club: Álex González (left) as Janos Quested/Riptide, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, and January Jones as Emma Frost as she shifts into her diamond form.
That’s Oliver Platt (Frost/Nixon, The Big C) on the far left as the mysterious Man in Black watching alongside Moira MacTaggert, Mystique, Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as Henry McCoy … shows off his new feet? Little has been revealed about Platt’s character, but it’s possible that he’s a government operative.
Are Raven Darkholme and Henry McCoy the Jean Grey and Scott Summers of X-Men: First Class? It kind of looks that way.
This isn’t a very good screencap, but it shows Lucas Till’s Alex Summers using his mutant powers. “What’s great, too, about all of these characters is that they haven’t honed their abilities yet” Singer tells Hero Complex. “Havok is a danger to himself and everyone around him. That’s where this movie is at — the recruiting of these mutants and bringing them together.”
After seeing the sleek present-day Cerebro in the trailer’s opening sequence, we’re now introduced to the 1960s version, complete with retro-style mainframes. It’s kind of spectacular.
Our first in-trailer look at Jason Flemyng as the demonic mutant Azazel, father of Nightcrawler, as well as January Jones’ Emma Frost in her full diamond form.
A teleporting Azazel takes out gunmen. “I’m also excited about Jason Flemyng as Azazel, which is a really cool character” Singer says. “It’s like this sinister alter ego of Nightcrawler in a way, which again brings some of the things that we like about that character but at the same time has a different quality.
Here’s the dark helmet we saw Fassbender’s Lensherr wear in that earlier still. However, that’s Jones’ Emma Frost in the background, which leads me to believe Bacon’s Sebastian Shaw is carrying it in this shot. Does that mean Shaw created the helmet for himself … or for Lensherr?
We saw this image Wednesday, but now we have a little context for it. Is this a fully costumed Magneto being held, at a different time, in the same room as Emma Frost? Or is she in the room with him, but blocked from our view?
In the trailer’s closing seconds we get Fassbender’s Lensherr unleashing his powers by lifting the submarine that’s almost certainly the one mentioned last month by Kevin Bacon. “I have one set that’s kind of like an inner sanctum and then I also have a submarine; the inside of the sub has elements of my other set,” he told Moviefone. “I have my own set of style and wanted to translate it over to my board room and stuff. It’s great. I love the way it looks.” So, yeah, Sebastian Shaw’s sub.
X-Men: First Class stars stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Henry McCoy/Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy/Banshee, Lucas Till as Alex Summers, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Oliver Platt as the Man in Black, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert and Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore. It opens on June 3.
Taking A Closer Look At The Trailer For X-Men: First Class
Friday, February 11th, 2011 at 11:30am
* by Kevin Melrose
ET on Oct. 22, 1962.

X-men: First Class trailer. Oh, yeah.
So Mubarak resigned and the X-men trailer got released. What a f#%@#&! day. I’m going to be honest, the trailer looks f#%@#&! awesome. In terms of being a comic book/X-men fan I’d say I’m somewhere in between, in terms of hardcoreness. I know tons about the comics and cartoons, but have never mastrubated to a animated version of Jean Gray.
You know who you are.
Anyway, love you guys and enjoy. Let me know what you think.
Everyones shouting fail because of problems on set. I’m sure those just arose from Vaughn, who is a cock-star, being overly cautious about cherished material. I’ll tell you one thing, no matter how you feel about Michael Fassbender, he will be better than Ian McKellen.
Sure, IM’s a great guy, a fantastic actor, and I sleep with pictures of Gandalf under my pillow (not true), but choosing him as Magneto was one of the biggest blunders in comic book movie history.
Like, who made that decision?
Anywhodilly, I’m pumped. What if The Wolverine, The Spiderman remake, and First Class ended up being good? What if the The Avengers films weren’t just cash films and are good as well?
Again, I’m excited.

Very Impressive ‘X-Men: First Class’ Trailer
Posted on: February 12, 2011
Watching the first trailer for the franchise prequel ‘X-Men: First Class’, a smile was on my face the whole time. The franchise was finally away from it’s mediocre recent films and back to the greatness of the first two movies. At least that’s what the impression is after watching the exciting first trailer for ‘X-Men: First Class’ that 20th Century Fox released today.
X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events.
The 60′s feel is present here and feels extremely fresh for the franchise. There’s a restraint feel to it all and the casting is so well done that one can only imagine the possibilities, especially with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as the leads. The special effects and action scenes are still there to provide fans the action fix but look much in tone here than just there for the sake of it. Overall, director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) proved to be a great choice for the movie and has essentially kick-started a new franchise that hopefully doesn’t go out with a whimper like ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. There’s some iffy CGI work that needs to be polished, but overall the movie looks better than anyone expected it to be.
Cannot wait for the June release. Trailer below.

Trailer: X-Men: First Class
Finally, the X-Men First Class trailer is out.
I must say I am happy with everything I am seeing. Charles and Eric seem to be in good hands with Michael Fassbender and James MacAvoy. And I didn't know Azazel is going to be in this (Nightcrawler's father). It is looking like the producer's did their homework....which doesn't always happen (see Tim Burton).
Great music as well.
What do you think? Sound off.

X-Men: First Class trailer is…Good?!
11 Feb
I’ll be honest I have not been looking forward to this at all. When the leaked photos came out a couple of weeks a go, I gave up on it. But this trailer…it’s….it’s good. It does the perfect job of setting a tone and setting. The music sets the tension between Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender). I also like the whole Cuban Missile Crisis setting, should be interesting. Now I’m looking forward to First Class.

X-Men First Class Trailer And Images
February 11, 2011 By Marc Eastman
The trailer has hit, and The X-Men are the talk of the town again. I'm a little mixed on this one, and I'm not sure the trailer helps all that much, but let me know what you think.
The first two films weren't bad at all, and the third was decent, I suppose. The new direction has obvious potential, but I wonder how far it will be able to get past the "gimmick." On the other hand, I'm a bit of a James McAvoy fan. Perhaps more importantly, Matthew Vaughn of Kick-Ass is directing, and I'm interested to see what he'll do with things.
Take a look at the trailer and some images below.

James McAvoy portrays Charles Xavier, a powerful telepath who can read and control minds.
Michael Fassbender portrays Erik Lehnsherr, who has the power to control magnetism. Lehnsherr is determined to exact revenge on the monstrous evil who "created" him.

Sweet Teaser…’X-Men: First Class’
* February 11th, 2011
* By MarcC
Yesterday we saw this mesmerizingly bold new X-Men emblem (below) and today we have the first official trailer. Quite uncanny, wouldn’t you say? Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Well this is more of a teaser than anything else but still more than an announcement. Funny how there are so many categories for something as brief as a movie trailer. Oh well, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, behold – Xavier’s First Class:
Well that certainly lived up to the hype. I’m totally digging the direction of this (using the Cuban Missile Crisis as a backdrop to the story) and the retro feel of it has me more than intrigued. I’m hopeful especially since Mr. Layer Cake himself Matthew Vaughn is at the helm, but am slightly worried because of the film’s rushed production schedule. Guess we’ll see what happens this summer. We should see the official full on trailer before long and X-Men: First Class will hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011.
First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn and will star: Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and finally James McAvoy as the famous Charles Xavier.
What say you X-Men fans? Does this look good to you? Are you willing to give FOX one more shot and your beloved series?

Hey! - A Trailer For A Movie I Genuinely Expect To Be Awesome For Once!
The trailer for the latest movie from Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick-Ass) is now out. Soooo awesome! As someone who was never a big fan of the other X Men movies, I cannot express how ridiculously excited I am by this. (I didn't understand the level of criticism for X Men 3 because I wasn't terribly wowed by either of the previous two.)
A Guardian article has said that this trailer is no "Batman Begins". Yeah well, that's because it's a trailer. The "Batman Begins" trailer was no "Batman Begins" either.
With Jennifer Lawrence from "Winter's Bone" as Mystique and Michael Fassbender from "Inglourious Basterds" as Magneto (with the ever awesome Bill Milner from "Son of Rambow" playing him as a child), this is shaping to be some rather awesome pick n' mix casting.

NEW TRAILER: First Trailer For 'X-Men: First Class' Released - James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender....
20th Century Fox recently released the first trailer for the much-anticipated X-Men: First Class. Starring James McAvoy as the young Professor X and Michael Fassbender as the young Magneto, peep the visual after the jump.
We must admit that we've had our doubts about this film since we first heard about it back in '09, but this actually looks pretty good. The special FX are on point and it has director Matthew Vaughn's signature touches.
Very promising.

Michael Fassbender to be Magneto in X-Men : First Class
Posted by Theusualtype On Friday, February 11, 2011
Michael Fassbender has been announced to play Magneto/ Eric Lensherr in the New X-Men prequel.
I really enjoyed him in "Inglorious Basterds" when he played "Lt. Archie Hicox" so let's see if he can give Magneto a good run.
A trailer was recently released and here's the video:
